The Bombardier Global 7500, billed as the “world’s largest and longest-range” business jet, has been on a record-breaking tear since entering service in 2018. In late August, Bombardier reported that the ultra-long-range jet had established over 50 speed records in less than 50 weeks. The manufacturer calculated an average speed of over 621 mph (1,000 km/h) for the 19-passenger aircraft during its 10 fastest record-breaking flights.

“With every new speed record, the Global 7500 aircraft builds on its well-deserved reputation as the most impressive ultra-long-range aircraft in the skies today,” says Jean-Christophe Gallagher, executive vice president of aircraft sales and Bombardier Defense. “In terms of its design attributes, unique technological advancements, and more, the Global 7500 aircraft is unmatched for its reliability, productivity, and style.”

Global 7500 By The Numbers

Bombardier says it’s approaching 200 deliveries of Global 7500 aircraft. The Global 7500 worldwide fleet has completed over 180,000 flight hours. The jet has a top speed of Mach 0.925 and a maximum flight range of 7,700 nautical miles (14,260 kilometers). Its record-breaking flights have included several impressive city pairs, including Miami to São Paulo, Brazil; Tokyo to Los Angeles; Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to London; and London to Bahrain.

An all-new GE Passport engine designed expressly for the plane is the foundation of its outstanding performance, delivering over 18,000 pounds (80 kilonewtons) of thrust. Bombardier says the aircraft's Smooth Flĕx Wing design contributes to the industry's smoothest ride, reduces fuel burn, lowers emissions, and enables excellent short-field and high-speed performance. The design employs a slats and flap system that produces excellent lift on takeoff and approach.

Prepping For The Global 8000

Bombardier expects to enter its new 19-passenger Global 8000 executive jet into service next year, replacing the Global 7500. According to Bombardier, the Global 8000 will be the industry's fastest and longest-range aircraft at Mach 0.94 and 8,000 nm (14,816 km), respectively. Current Global 7500 owners can retrofit their plane to obtain the same performance capabilities as the Global 8000.
