Two charter companies recently steered the Bombardier Global 7500 to two new speed records. Catreus set the first on February 28 on a flight from Farnborough, England, to Muharraq, Bahrain. Phenix Jet Cayman established the second during a trek from Phoenix to Paris on March 6th. The ultra-long-range 19-passenger business jet, which has a top speed of Mach 0.925, now has more than 30 speed records in its collection.
Shattering Records
These latest records still await official approval from the Fédération aéronautique internationale (FAI), the World Air Sport Federation. Bombardier says that in fall 2023 alone, the Global 7500 set over 20 new flight records. In October 2019, an 8,225-nautical-mile (15,232-kilometer) Global 7500 flight from Syndey to Detroit marked business aviation’s longest-ever recorded flight, says Bombardier.
“The Global 7500 aircraft is in a class by itself when it comes to performance—an immaculate business jet that was made to set and shatter records,” says Jean-Christophe Gallagher, executive vice president of aircraft sales and Bombardier Defense. “With its impeccable design attributes and technological advancements, the Global 7500 aircraft offers customers precisely what they need to enhance their operations—unmatched reliability, productivity, and style.”
Outstanding Capabilities
At 7,700 nm (14,260 km), the flight range of the award-winning Global 7500 is the longest of any business aircraft certified and in service, says Bombardier. The jet entered service in 2018, and the Global 7500 fleet has logged over 100,000 flying hours since. Bombardier has delivered more than 165 Global 7500 aircraft.
The airplane’s all-new GE Passport engines and its Smooth Flĕx Wing design (which features a slats and flap system) help maximize its aerodynamic efficiency, boost performance, reduce fuel burn, and lower emissions while contributing to excellent short-field and high-speed performance.
Enter The Global 8000
Bombardier expects to enter its new 19-passenger Global 8000 into service in 2025 as business aviation’s fastest (Mach 0.94) and longest-range (8,000 nm, 14,816 km) aircraft. Although the jet is to replace the Global 7500, current Global 7500 owners can retrofit their planes to support the Global 8000’s performance capabilities.
