In-service Bombardier Global 5000, 5500, 6000, and 6500 business jets with a Bombardier Vision flight deck are eligible for a new Advanced Avionics Upgrade (AAU) powered by Collins Aerospace. The software upgrade enhances the flight deck with situational awareness and advanced visualization features, boosting safety and efficiency, says Bombardier.

“The primary objective of this upgrade, and our long-term collaboration with Bombardier, is to proactively provide information to the flight deck that improves safety and confidence in decision making,” says Marc Ayala, Collins Aerospace senior director of sales for business and regional avionics.

“An Important Staple”

AAU provides avionics features introduced on in-production Global 5500 and 6500 aircraft. A Global 6000 was the first aircraft to receive the upgrade, with installation occurring at Bombardier’s service center in Wichita, Kansas. Installation is available across the manufacturer’s service center network, with facilities in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Paul Sislian, Bombardier executive vice president of aftermarket services and operational excellence, calls the upgrade a game changer.

“The Bombardier Vision flight deck has been an important staple on Bombardier Global aircraft for years, and the addition of the Advanced Avionics Upgrade ensures our business aircraft continue to be renowned for their impeccable safety, reliability, and performance,” says Sislian.

Combined Vision System

AAU enables owners to install optional enhancements for managing traffic, taxiing, weather, system alerts and messaging, instruments, and more. One noteworthy option is installing Bombardier’s Combined Vision System (CVS). It combines features of the Synthetic Vision System (SVS) and the Enhanced Vision System (EVS) into a single view. Bombardier says this results in reduced crew workload and unmatched situational awareness with the clearest view through the toughest weather.

AAU also offers a new, optional, state-of-the-art weather radar that enables Vertical Weather and Predictive Windshear featured options. Owners can also install improvements to the Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) that provide updates to the head-up display (HUD), primary flight display (PFD), and SVS for improved operational performance and other benefits.
