DALaviation Switzerland, a private jet charter company based in Geneva, is the first European customer to purchase a Cessna Citation CJ4 Gen2 jet. Cessna-brand owner Textron Aviation announced the sale to the family-owned and -operated company in mid-May. Founded in 2016, DALaviation Switzerland’s fleet already includes Citation CJ2+ and Citation CJ1 aircraft. Textron introduced the single-pilot-certified Gen2 version of the CJ4 in February, calling the 10-passenger variant the largest Citation in the light jet segment.

First-Class Flight Experience

Textron expects the CJ4 Gen2 to obtain EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) type certification in June. Textron says the business jet’s elevated passenger experience will help DALaviation’s efforts to increase its European customer base. The jet includes such features as enhanced interior ambient lighting, CoolView lavatory skylights, numerous seating options, and an upgraded wireless cabin management system. Tom Perry, Textron Aviation vice president of sales for Europe, Middle East, and Africa, says the CJ4 Gen2 provides DALaviation with a first-class flight experience.

“With the addition of the CJ4 Gen2 to its fleet, DALaviation Switzerland will be able to serve more customers who will have access to a greater number of destinations across Europe due to the aircraft’s best-in-class range of 1,926 nautical miles (3,567 kilometers),” Perry says.

Meeting Charter Demand

The CJ4 Gen2 comes with a Collins Aerospace Pro Line 21 avionics suite and a brace of Williams International FJ44-4A power plants. It has a 451-KTAS maximum cruise speed and carries 1,040 pounds (472 kilograms) of baggage. DALaviation Switzerland founder and CEO Nicolas Trefeil says the jet will help his company serve its growing client base.

“Flexibility and wellness are top-of-mind for our customers as travel resumes, and our client base is growing as people are increasingly turning to charter services for an exclusive and comfortable flying experience,” Trefeil says. “Alongside our CJ1 and CJ2+ business jets, the CJ4 Gen2 will help us continue expanding our business and exceeding our customers’ expectations.”
