Since October 2019, when Gulfstream Aerospace introduced its upcoming 19-passenger G700 business jet, it has claimed the aircraft will feature the industry’s most spacious, innovative, and flexible cabin. Gulfstream recently took a step closer to making that claim a reality when its first fully outfitted test aircraft, dedicated to testing the G700 cabin experience, took its first flight. Gulfstream says its validation process will include every facet of the cabin (a total of more than 15,500 test points) and will ensure that G700 customers experience the utmost in interior comfort and reliability. Deliveries of the G700 are scheduled to begin in 2022.

“Raising The Bar”

The April 15 flight lasted more than 3.5 hours, reaching a 48,000-foot (14,630-meter) altitude and hitting a top speed of Mach 0.935. Gulfstream’s first test aircraft in the G700 test program flew in February, and the fifth test aircraft in October. This fully outfitted aircraft is the sixth in the program, and Gulfstream President Mark Burns says flying it at this stage points to the program’s significant progress.

“The G700 interior is raising the bar for cabin innovation and customization,” Burns says. “It provides more space than ever before for Gulfstream’s precision-crafted furnishings, more opportunity for personalization, and more technology to optimize passenger health, safety, and enjoyment.”

Inside The Cabin

The G700 cabin offers up to five living areas, and measures 6.3 ft (1.9 m) high by 8.2 ft (2.5 m) wide by 56.92 ft (17.34 m) long. It features what Gulfstream says is the industry’s only ultragalley, offering in excess of 10 ft (3 m) of counter space. There’s a dedicated crew space, an entertainment and presentation area, a six-place conference and dining area, and a state room with full-length wardrobe. A passenger lounge and grand suite with optional shower are available as options.

Other features include the G700 Classic Seat that won a 2020 International Yacht & Aviation Award, Jet ConneX Ka-band Wi-Fi access, an all-new ultra-high-definition circadian lighting system, and 20 panoramic oval windows. Natural stone flooring in the galley and bathrooms, quartz countertops, powered single seats, and surround sound are also on tap.
