Gulfstream’s long-range G600 business jet has received its type certificate from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), setting the 19-passenger aircraft up for registrations and deliveries to Europe. Gulfstream President Mark Burns said the jet’s advanced technology—which includes Gulfstream’s award-winning Symmetry Flight Deck—along with its high-speed performance and “unparalleled efficiency” will serve intercontinental European business travelers well.

From London To LA

Gulfstream, a General Dynamics company, introduced its G600 and G500 business jet together in 2014. The G600 received its type and production certifications from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on the same day last summer, and Gulfstream delivered the first G600 in August. Gulfstream says the 45.2-foot (13.77-meter) jet is the longest business aircraft in its class. The aircraft has piled up 23 city-pair speed records, including one set flying 4,057 nautical miles (7,514 kilometers) from Savannah, Georgia, where Gulfstream is based to Geneva in 7 hours and 21 minutes at Mach 0.90.

Gulfstream actually increased the G600’s flight range twice during its flight test campaign, eventually reaching a 6,500-nm (12,038-km) range with eight passengers at Mach 0.85. At a high cruise speed of Mach 0.90, the G600 can fly 5,500 nm (10,186 km) nonstop, which as Gulfstream points out is enough range to fly nonstop from London to Los Angeles, New York City to Dubai, or Paris to Hong Kong. The jet has a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.925, and is equipped with two Pratt & Whitney PW815GA engines.

In addition to the award-winning Symmetry Flight Deck, active control sidesticks that enhance pilots’ visual and tactile feedback, and other components, the G600 has an interior that earned Gulfstream the top Private Jet Design honors in the 2018 International Yacht & Aviation Awards. Owners can configure the cabin with up to four living areas or three living areas with a crew compartment.
