As part of a recent demonstration that saw its Global 7500 touch down “in the heart of the Alps,” Bombardier says the 19-passenger aircraft became the “most spacious purpose-built business jet” to operate out of Switzerland’s Gstaad Saanen Airport. The aircraft, which entered service in December, was on display at the airport along with the 10-passenger Global 350 super-midsized business jet. Elsewhere, in addition to recently winning Grand Laureate and Best Platform honors in Aviation Week’s 62nd Annual Laureate Awards Business Aircraft categories, the Global 7500 earned the Business Jet of The Year award in the Robb Report’s 31st Annual Best of the Best aircraft honors. The Challenger 350, meanwhile, won the honor in the Robb Report’s Super-Midsize category.
“No Peer”
As Bombardier notes, Gstaad Airport is “one of the most notable airfields” in the Swiss Alps, but requires short-field performance. The Swiss demonstration, which saw the Global 7500 continuing on to Dubai, strengthened a claim that the jet” simply has no peer in terms of combining size and real-world capabilities,” said Peter Likoray, Bombardier Business Aircraft senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing.” Likoray says not only can the Global 7500 “access demanding airfields in hot and/or high locations,” it also provides uncompromising value “under any conditions, at any time, without the need for tailwinds.”
Bombardier, which bills the aircraft as the “world’s largest and longest range business jet,” points to the Global 7500’s advance wing technology as providing “unprecedented amounts of extra lift on takeoff and approach due to its sophisticated slats and flap system.” The jet recently completed the first ever nonstop flight from London City Airport to the Van Nuys airport near Los Angeles. While the jet provides a 7,700-nautical mile (14,260-kilometer) flight range, it also recently completed an 8,152-nautical mile flight from Singapore to Tucson, Arizona.
More Than Range
In addition to featuring a Soleil lighting system dubbed as “the industry’s most advanced cabin lighting technology” and “aviation’s first circadian rhythm-based cabin lighting technology,” the Global 7500 features Bombardier’s patented Nuage seat.
