Textron Aviation has announced that the Cessna Citation X+, Citation Sovereign+, and Citation Latitude business jets have all received Federal Aviation Administration STC (supplemental type certificate) approval for Gogo Business Aviation’s Gogo AVANCE L5 connectivity system upgrade. With announced STC approval for the system announced earlier this year for the Citation X, Sovereign, and XL/XLS/XLS+ models, eight Cessna models are now approved for the system. Textron Aviation owns the Cessna brand, along with the Hawker and Beechcraft aircraft brands.
Productive Travel Time
Textron Aviation says it has completed roughly 150 AVANCE system upgrades overall for Citation customers. AVANCE L5 is a platform-based solution that delivers customers faster speeds and enhanced network capacity, with support for videoconferencing, as well as movie, TV, and music streaming. Further, crew members can use AVANCE L5 service to access real-time data for cockpit apps. Gogo says AVANCE L5 provides a 4G cellular-like experience, and says it supports up to 40 simultaneously connected devices.
Kriya Shortt, Textron Aviation senior vice president of Global Customer Support, says optimizing connectivity across the company’s product range is another method for enhancing the ownership experience. “For many of our customers, the ability to connect twice as many devices and join a video conference call in flight turns travel time into productive office hours,” Shortt says.
