Bombardier announces the recent entry into service of the Global 6500 jet. Transport Canada certified both the Global 5500 and Global 6500 on September 24. The 6500 is scheduled to make its public debut at the NBAA-BACE (National Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition) in Las Vegas on October 22.
The aircraft went through the rigorous flight test program, which was completed at Bombardier’s test centre in Wichita, Kansas. The Pearl 15 engine, the latest addition to Rolls-Royce’s business aviation engine portfolio, received EASA certification in 2018 and Transport Canada certification recently. The engine, developed at the Rolls-Royce Centre of Excellence for Business Aviation engines in Dahlewitz, Germany, was custom-designed with enhanced aerodynamics, blade cooling, and advanced engine health monitoring systems.
Features
The aircraft features the Bombardier Vision Flight Deck, a comprehensive avionics suite designed with ergonomic and aesthetic preferences of pilots in mind in addition to Bombardier’s standard wing design and built-in systems redundancy. Bombardier says the new Rolls-Royce Pearl engines also make the Global 6500 a cleaner, more efficient business jet. The Global 6500 has a range of 6,600 nautical miles (12,223 kilometers) with a top speed of Mach 0.90 to connect destinations such as New York to Dubai or Hong Kong to London, the company says, adding that it can access airports that other jets can’t, such as London City.
Redesigned Cabin
The Global 6500 business jet debuts the Nuage chaise to the conference suite. The lounge chair, created with long-range flights in mind, converts into a flat surface for sleeping or banquet-style dinning around the table. Nuage seats are exclusive to the new Global aircraft line.
“We’re proud of the work our team and our suppliers have done to deliver a technologically advanced aircraft that exceeds our customers’ expectations in terms of unparalleled comfort, superior performance and an incomparable smooth ride. The Global 6500 business jet continues to maintain the longstanding winning DNA of our Global family of aircraft, the most successful long-range business jet platform,” says David Coleal, President of Bombardier Aviation.
