Cirrus Aircraft Announces New TRAC Series Of Training Aircraft; Purpose-Built Design Stems From Company’s SR Series

Cirrus Aircraft has a new TRAC Series of training aircraft it says is “designed to be the ultimate training platform.” A purpose-built configuration of Cirrus’ SR Series, now in its sixth generation and billed as the “world’s best-selling single-engine aircraft” for 17 straight years, the TRAC Series is described as Cirrus’ solution to “provide a 21st-century training platform for world-class training institutions.” Cirrus says it designed the TRAC SR20 to “meet the rigors of high-tempo flight operations” while simultaneously providing “industry-leading safety and performance for both the pilot trainee and flight instructor.”

Targeting Premiere Flight Programs

With the TRAC Series, Cirrus says it’s positioned to expand on relationships already established with world-class training programs operating Cirrus fleets. These include Emirates Airline, the U.S. Air Force Academy, Airbus Flight Academy, and the Royal Saudi Air Force. Cirrus Aircraft Vice President of Fleet & Special Mission Aircraft sales David Moser says, “These partnerships have been instrumental in our development of the technologically advanced, cost-effective TRAC platform designed exclusively for leading flight academies and universities across the globe.”

In addition to a Garmin Perspective+ flight deck featuring two displays, TRAC Series trainers feature rear seat push-to-talk functionality, a landing gear simulator designed to enhance training productivity, a Flight Management System keypad controller, Electronic Stability and Protection system, integrated engine indication, and crew alerting/warning systems. Other features include a Lycoming IO-390 engine that produces 215 horsepower, an all-composite airframe structure, and the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System.

Non-TRAC Models

In addition to the TRAC Series and SR Series, which includes the SR22T, SR22, and SR20 models, Cirrus Aircraft produces the Vision Jet, which it bills as the “world’s first single-engine personal jet.”
